Sonos sound system adds Android and AirPlay abilities

Sonos announced this week the release of Sonos Sound System Software 3.4 along with a new Sonos Controller for Android application and an updated iOS app. The software apps from Sonos are of course free of charge from Apple’s app store or the Sonos website. Features of the new Android app include access to all standard Sonos controls, ability to browse through your music library by Artist, Album, Genre, Track Name, Composer, or Playlist and the ability to perform voice or keyboard searches. One other plus point (not available on Apple hardware yet!) is the ability to use the handsets hard keys as volume controls.
Sonos Sound System 3.4 Features
The new firmware adds several new features for iOS users including support for iOS multitasking support and support for Apple Airplay when the Sonos system is connected to an Apple Airport Express. They are connected to the line-in of any Sonos ZonePlayer at which point the Sonos system will automatically sense when a incoming signal is present. Sonos users can then select the Apple Airport Express as an input to their Sonos music system, another great addition for Apple/Sonos lovers out there to expand their multi-room audio system.
