London Home Automation

This London home automation project was situated just north of Marble Arch and Hyde Park. The property itself is a six floor Georgian town-house one of these floors being a large roof top terrace with beautiful 360° views of London. Our clients main aim was to be able to control elements  around his house no matter what floor he is on, and have the ease of controlling all their devices from one device. It was our job to provide the perfect system.

During the design process we worked closely with our client to find out what they wanted from their home system. The project itself was having a full restoration, right from the ground floor to the very top. The proposal was:

  • A full Network backbone for internet and Wi-Fi connectivity all over the house
  • Audio distribution through eight zones of the house and future proofing for future expansion
  • HD distribution of seven zones of video with future proofing
  • Full house Lighting design and Lighting control
  • Window blind control
  • In house intercommunication system and front door station for video communication sessions
  • CCTV Integration

The decision was made to put in place a full house Control4 system with a full centralised panellised lighting system. The design of the lighting and audio visual equipment was done by our fully trained lighting designers and AV specialists. With 28 zones of lighting we used a combination of Control4’s eight channel dimmers, relay units and configurable keypads and the lighting system was configured to exactly how the client wanted. Using programmed scenes to set the perfect level of lighting to suit any mood. The Audio and visual design for the house consisted of in room local installs and RF distribution to all TV points. Using AV receivers and Control4’s in room HC-250 Controllers we produced rooms with brilliant audio amplification and a crisp, clear sound.

Rooms that were only requiring audio we used a centralised audio rack location, that was used to distribute audio through the use of Sonos connect AMP units, which provided the latest in amplified audio quality.

Along with the audio and lighting we also installed a full CCTV system covering the whole house. To round this off all of the equipment above was integrated into the Control4 system, including the alarm system and door station intercommunication. This project is a real gem of London home automation.
