Bedford Gardens, Kensington — Whole-Home Smart System
One of the most comprehensive smart home installations we’ve delivered — a full townhouse redevelopment in Kensington, including a new lower ground floor and deep basement, with every system brought together on a single Control4 platform. The property includes a pool, gym, media room and multiple living spaces across several floors, with 16 audio zones, 8 video zones and Lutron DALI lighting throughout.
The brief
Inspire Audio Visual was brought on board at the early design stage alongside developer London Projects, interior designer Hesellic Design and architect Maxwell and Sons. The brief was to design and install a complete entertainment, lighting and control system that would work invisibly within a high-specification interior — and to remain as the long-term technology partner for ongoing support.
The challenges
A property of this scale and complexity required coordination with multiple design and construction teams over an extended build programme. The extensive reconstruction — including a new lower ground floor between the existing ground floor and deep basement — meant every cable route, equipment location and control point had to be planned from the architectural drawings, with no room for retrofit.
What we designed and installed
Lighting
Lutron DALI lighting throughout the property — chosen for its superior dimming performance and precise circuit management. Given the client’s collection of art, the lighting design required particular attention to colour rendering and flexibility across galleries, living spaces and circulation areas.
Cinema and media room
A dedicated media room with a 90-inch Sony 4K display and 5.1 surround sound using Klipsch speakers. Control4 scene control shifts the room from family use to cinema mode at one button.
Audio
16 audio zones covering every floor, including the pool area and gym. Music follows the client through the house, with independent control per zone or whole-home playback from the Control4 interface.
Video distribution
8 video zones via WyreStorm matrix distribution, allowing any source to be watched on any screen throughout the property.
Networking
Commercial-grade wired and wireless infrastructure supporting the full system — essential at this scale for reliable control, streaming and video distribution.
Control
A single Control4 platform manages lighting, audio, video, heating, pool systems and security. The system is maintained by us to this day.

Design and development team
This project was delivered alongside three outstanding practices:
Development — London Projects, a specialist London residential developer known for delivering high-specification townhouse redevelopments across prime central London.
Interior design — Hesellic Design, whose attention to material, finish and spatial quality defined the interior that our technology had to complement rather than compete with.
Architecture — Maxwell and Company, who led the extensive reconstruction including the new lower ground floor and deep basement.
We were brought on board at the early design stage and worked as the technology partner throughout the build programme — coordinating drawings, cable routes and equipment locations with all three teams. It’s the way we prefer to work, and the reason the finished result is invisible until you need it.
