Who this is for

Homeowners who want a home that’s simple to live with and reliable for the long term; interior designers and architects coordinating technology into a wider design; and developers fitting out high-specification homes who need a system that performs consistently from one project to the next.

The problem we solve

Most “smart home” frustration isn’t the technology — it’s too many separate systems that don’t talk to each other, or a system installed once and never properly supported. We design for the opposite: one platform, properly specified, with someone accountable for it afterwards.

Heating Integration

Control your heating from one single location ensuring your home is at the correct temperature day and night. When integrated with a smart home system, this is all possible from a centrally located touch screen or app on your iPhone. To find out more, please contact us using the button below.

Security Integration

When integrated into your smart home system, you can enjoy a host of features allowing simple one-touch control of your alarm from a keypad or touch screen. For instance a ‘nightmode’ on your bedside keypad could turn off all your house lights and set the alarm. To find out more, please contact us using the button below.

Lighting & Blind Integration

Your smart home system can be integrated into your lighting and blind systems to provide simple control of lighting within your home, all from a single keypad. To find out more, please contact us using the button below.

Audio Visual Integration

Controlling AV systems simultaneously enhances the experience when watching films or sport. With a smart home system, there’s no need for juggling multiple remote controls; your smart home remote control can do all this and more. To find out more, please contact us using the button below.

What we provide

Whole-home automation covering lighting and shading, heating and climate, multi-room audio, security and CCTV, networking, and entertainment — all on a single Control4 or Crestron platform, controlled from a touchscreen, a handheld remote, or your phone.

Our Process

We follow the same structured process on every project: a design consultation to understand the brief, a full specification and drawings, first-fix and second-fix installation timed around your build programme, commissioning, and a handover where we make sure everyone in the house knows how to use it. Ongoing service and support is part of the relationship, not an afterthought.

Control4 and Crestron

We’ve been a Control4 dealer for over 15 years and a Crestron Home installer, which means we can recommend the platform that genuinely suits your home and budget rather than the only one we know. Both integrate fully with Lutron lighting and our home cinema installations.

FAQ

When should you plan a smart home system during a renovation or new build?

The best time to plan a smart home system is before the electrical design, lighting layout and interior finishes are finalised. Ideally, your smart home specialist should be involved early in the renovation or new-build process, alongside the architect, interior designer, electrician and main contractor.

Early planning allows the right cables, back boxes, lighting circuits, speaker positions, TV locations, Wi-Fi access points, security wiring and equipment rack locations to be designed before the building work is too far advanced.

Leaving smart home planning too late can lead to compromise. You may end up with visible equipment, weaker Wi-Fi coverage, limited lighting control, awkward keypad positions, expensive rework or products chosen because they are easy to retrofit rather than because they are the best long-term solution.

Early smart home planning is especially important if you want:

  • Whole-home lighting control
  • A dedicated cinema room or media room
  • Multi-room audio
  • Reliable Wi-Fi throughout the property
  • CCTV, gates, intercom or access control
  • Electric blinds or curtains
  • Heating and climate integration
  • A clean, discreet finish with minimal visible technology

A well-designed smart home should feel like part of the property, not something added afterwards. The earlier the system is planned, the better the result usually looks, feels and performs.

What does a professional smart home installation include?

A professional smart home installation includes the design, supply, installation, programming and support of the technology systems within your home. This can include lighting control, home cinema, multi-room audio, Wi-Fi and networking, security, CCTV, access control, heating, blinds and one simple control system to bring everything together.

The main difference between a professional smart home and a collection of DIY devices is the design process. A professionally installed system is planned around the property, the wiring, the network, the interior finishes and the way you actually live in the home.

A typical professional smart home installation may include:

  • An initial consultation to understand the property and your requirements
  • System design and product specification
  • Lighting control and keypad planning
  • Home cinema or media room design
  • Wi-Fi and home network design
  • Cable schedules and rack planning
  • Coordination with electricians, architects, interior designers and builders
  • Installation, programming and commissioning
  • Handover, training and ongoing support

At Inspire Audio Visual, we design smart home systems that are discreet, reliable and easy to use. The aim is not to fill your home with technology for the sake of it. The aim is to make lighting, entertainment, security, heating and control feel natural, simple and properly integrated.

How much does professional smart home installation cost?

The cost of a professional smart home installation depends on the size of the property, the number of rooms, the systems being integrated and the level of finish required. A small upgrade may cost a few thousand pounds, while a fully integrated smart home with lighting control, cinema, audio, networking, security and access control can run into tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The biggest cost factor is not usually the control app. It is the infrastructure behind the system. Cabling, lighting circuits, network equipment, speakers, amplifiers, control processors, keypads, racks, programming, installation time and support all affect the final cost.

As a general guide:

  • A professional Wi-Fi or network upgrade may start from the low thousands
  • Smart lighting control for key areas may cost several thousand pounds
  • A media room or simple cinema system may start from around £10,000
  • A dedicated home cinema can range from tens of thousands to significantly more depending on specification
  • A full-home smart system depends heavily on property size, cabling, lighting, AV, security and control requirements

The best way to control cost is to plan early. When smart home technology is considered before wiring, lighting and finishes are finalised, it is much easier to design the right system, avoid unnecessary changes and build in flexibility for the future.

At Inspire Audio Visual, we do not believe the best smart home is simply the most expensive one. The right system should match the property, the client, the budget and the way the home will be used.

How important is the network in a smart home?

The network is one of the most important parts of any smart home. Many issues blamed on smart home products are actually caused by weak Wi-Fi, poor cabling, badly placed access points, overloaded routers or unreliable network equipment.

A professional smart home relies on a stable network because so many systems depend on it. Lighting control, music, video streaming, CCTV, door entry, heating, remote access, app control, control processors and support diagnostics may all use the home network in some way.

In a larger property, a standard broadband router is rarely enough. A professional home network should be designed around the size of the building, wall construction, garden areas, plant rooms, AV equipment, home office requirements and the number of connected devices.

A properly designed smart home network may include:

  • Structured data cabling
  • Professionally positioned Wi-Fi access points
  • Network switches
  • Secure remote access
  • Equipment rack design
  • Separate networks for certain systems where required
  • Remote monitoring and support
  • Proper documentation for future maintenance

If the network is weak, the smart home will never feel reliable. That is why Inspire Audio Visual treats networking as part of the foundation of the home, not an afterthought. Before adding more devices, it is often better to make sure the network is strong enough to support them.

Should you DIY your smart home or hire a professional?

DIY smart home products can work well for simple tasks such as plug-in lamps, voice assistants, video doorbells or a few app-controlled devices. However, if you want lighting control, home cinema, multi-room audio, heating, security, access control, blinds or reliable Wi-Fi to work together across the home, a professional smart home installation is usually the better option.

DIY systems are normally built around individual devices and separate apps. This can be fine at first, but it often becomes frustrating as more products are added. You may end up with different apps for lighting, heating, cameras, music, door entry and TV control, with no single system tying everything together properly.

A professional smart home is different. It is designed around the building, the wiring, the network and the long-term use of the home. The technology is planned properly, installed cleanly and programmed so that the system feels simple for the people living with it every day.

You should consider hiring a professional smart home installer if:

  • You are building or renovating a property
  • You want smart lighting across several rooms
  • You need reliable Wi-Fi throughout a larger home
  • You want a cinema room or integrated AV system
  • You want security, gates, CCTV or access control included
  • You want fewer apps and a simpler control experience
  • You want the system supported after installation

A good smart home should not feel complicated. If the technology is becoming a distraction, that is usually a sign it needs better design.

Do I need to rewire my whole house for a smart home system?

Not necessarily. New builds and full renovations make for the most elegant wiring, but there are retrofit and wireless options for existing homes.

What's the difference between Control4 and Crestron?

Both are professional-grade home automation platforms. Control4 tends to suit a wide range of homes well at a strong price-to-performance ratio; Crestron is typically specified for the largest or most demanding installations. We’ll recommend the right one for your project.

Can I add to the system later?

Yes, Control4 and Crestron are both designed to expand. Most clients add rooms or features over time

What happens if something goes wrong after installation?

You’re supported by our service and maintenance team, including system health checks and remote support.

Do you support systems installed by another company?

In many cases, yes, we offer system takeovers and upgrades for existing Control4 and Crestron installations.
