iRoom iDock

We upgraded an old portrait iDock for the ‘Original iPad‘ as our client wanted most recent iPad available and have the ability to update to the latest iOS enabling a much wider range of features to interact with the Control4 Home Automation system. The original install was part of a wider whole home Control4 installation from 2012.

As shown in the photo above with the new Apple iPad, some of the enhanced features include, TuneIn, full control over AV systems (that have been integrated with Control4), access to security cameras on the network and much more. The client tends to use this device for controlling music and lighting within the kitchen and dining rooms, so it was a welcome upgrade.

The new iDock has some welcome features over the outgoing model. As the iDock is motorised, power cuts can leave the iPad stuck within the dock until power is restored but the new model includes a special feature that will release the iPad in the occurrence of such an event.  Here is a list of other features:

  • Motorised docking and release
  • Opening mechanism via proximity sensor
  • External contact-friendly (eg keypad or fingerprint entry)
  • Automatic closing function after 10 sec.
  • Remote access to docking status
