How We Design and Install a Smart Home
Every project follows the same disciplined process — from the first conversation through to handover and ongoing support. It’s how we deliver systems that work reliably and are finished properly.
Why the process matters
A smart home system touches every trade on a build — electricians, plasterers, decorators, joiners. If the technology isn’t planned and coordinated properly from the start, it gets retrofitted badly at the end. Our process exists to prevent that. Every project gets a full specification document and a set of drawings before a single cable is run.
Consultation
We visit the property or review your architect’s drawings, understand how you live and what you want the system to do. No jargon, no pressure — just a clear conversation about what’s possible and what it’s likely to cost.
Design and specification
We produce a full written specification and AutoCAD drawings covering every system — lighting circuits, speaker locations and cable routes. These are coordinated with your architect, interior designer or builder so everyone works from the same information.
First fix
During the build, we install all cabling, back boxes, mounting points and infrastructure while the walls are open. This is the stage that defines whether the finished system looks considered or compromised.
Second fix and installation
Once the decorating is complete, we install all visible equipment — keypads, touchscreens, speakers, screens, projectors and cameras — and connect everything to the infrastructure laid at first fix.
Programming and commissioning
We programme the Control4, Crestron or KNX system on site, build your scenes and presets, calibrate audio and video, and test every function. This is where the system comes to life.
Handover and support
We walk you through everything — how to use each room, how scenes work, how to control the system from your phone. Then we remain your point of contact for ongoing service and support, system updates and future additions.
