Home Cinema Design & Installation
A proper home cinema is engineered, not assembled. We design dedicated cinema rooms and family media rooms that deliver reference-grade picture and sound — rooms calibrated to perform, finished to suit the interior, and simple enough that the whole family can use them with one button. Inspire Audio Visual has designed and installed home cinemas across Yorkshire, Cheshire and London for over a decade. Our work has been featured in Home Cinema Choice and recognised at the Smart Building Awards.
Who we design cinemas for
Whether you’re converting a spare room, a basement or a barn, or specifying a dedicated cinema as part of a new build or full renovation, we work alongside homeowners, interior designers, architects and developers. The starting point is always the same question: how do you actually want to watch? The answer shapes everything from seating and sightlines to how much of the technology you ever see.
Dedicated cinema rooms and media rooms
A dedicated cinema room is a light-controlled, acoustically treated space built around a projector and screen, with tiered seating and a single purpose: the best picture and sound we can deliver in your room.
A media room is a multi-purpose family space — a snug, a games room, an open-plan living area — where the cinema is there when you want it and discreetly out of sight when you don’t. A screen that disappears, speakers that sit behind the finish, and lighting that shifts the room from family evening to film night.
How we work
Every cinema follows the same disciplined process: an initial design consultation to understand the room and the brief; full drawings and a written specification, coordinated with your architect or interior designer; first-fix wiring and acoustic work during the build; installation and commissioning; and a calibration and handover session so the room performs exactly as designed. We produce proper drawings (AutoCAD) and calibrate to recognised standards so the result is measurable, not just impressive on the day.
The technology we specify
Every cinema is brought together by a single control system, Control4 or Crestron, so one button dims the Lutron lighting, lowers the screen and starts the film. Underneath that simplicity, we specify the right display and audio for the room and the budget: projection from Sony, JVC or Barco, and audio from Meridian, Triad or the discreet, interior-friendly speakers of Artcoustic. We only specify equipment we trust to perform and to last.
Acoustics and Calibration
Picture and sound are only as good as the room they live in. We model and treat the acoustics, manage reflections and bass, and calibrate the finished system properly so colour, contrast and sound are accurate — not just loud. This is the part most rooms get wrong, and it’s the difference between a big television and a genuine cinema.
Book a private demonstration
The best way to understand what a properly engineered cinema feels like is to sit in one. Book a private demonstration and experience a reference cinema before you commit a penny to your own.

FAQs
Do I need a dedicated room for a home cinema?
No. A dedicated room gives the best possible result, but we design media rooms where the cinema lives discreetly inside a family space and disappears when it’s not in use.
How much does a home cinema cost?
It depends on the room, the specification and how much acoustic and building work is involved. Most projects begin around £20,000 and scale with the room and the equipment. We give you a clear written specification and budget at the design stage, before any commitment.
Can you convert a basement, garage or barn?
Yes. Conversions are some of our most rewarding projects — a light-controlled, self-contained space is often the ideal canvas for a dedicated cinema.
Will the cinema work with the rest of my smart home?
Yes. We build cinemas on Control4 or Crestron, the same platforms we use for whole-home control, so the room integrates with your lighting, blinds, heating and audio.
Do you work with my interior designer or architect?
Routinely. We provide drawings and coordinate through the design and build process so the technology fits the interior rather than competing with it.
Where do you install home cinemas?
Across Yorkshire, Cheshire and London, and nationally for the right project.
